Odd idle "lope" 83 300 SD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7yJALUJHGY&feature=youtu.be
Listen carefully, about every one and a half seconds, any guess?

For my self unless it revs up now and then I'd do nothing. Worn valve guides, loose turbo will add oil to the fuel charge and cause uneven idle. Before you adjust the idle lope remove oil cap and see if there is any change. Also push STOP lever a little slowing the idle for same reason. . .

Well, it's an oddity, no issues, really, but haven't noticed this before.
Hopefully not an indiction of an upcoming failure. Revs don't change, just that odd lopping sound.

With your moniker, I presume you are familiar with this engine?

Yes, I haven't noticed this lopping with any of the other four I've owned.

Turn out it was a failing A/C unit.
I cut the belt, no more "funny" noise.
