Happy B-day Tom (twalgamuth)!

So I don't normally check the birthday list at the bottom of the PP entry page, but this evening, I happened to notice that it is Tom's birthday on Tuesday Dec. 29. Of course this assumes he didn't lie when he registered with this website 25,248 posts ago. Thanks for all the help throughout the years and have a happy birthday.

[DD mods, I decided to put this here to ensure Tom saw it and because of the amazing contribution he has made to this subforum over the years. But if that is a problem, please just move it over to OD. Thanks.]

Thanks guys!

I went walkabout sunday and yesterday with my Brother and visited the Studebaker museum on Sunday then drove to Auburn, stayed in the Comfort Suites and visited the flathead ford Museum and then the Truck and transportation museum.

This morning I did an inventory of my haul of goodies from their gift shops.....T shirt, Mug for my buddy Homer, Baseball cap with headlights built into the bill, Stude license plate, a set of dvd's of classic car shows, and a 1/18th scale of an early Ferrari barchetta which I bought for a bargain price of $20 at the truck museum. (Prolly not too many F car enthusiasts visiting the truck museum.

The truck museum is behind the Auburn cord deusenberg museum and is well worth a visit as it has a very wide variety of stuff on wheels including a Motorama, Busses, cars, tractors and an amazing International truck with fairings etc which ran 232 mph at Bonneville. The driver must have balls of iron as it sits 10' tall.

He had a blowout at 230 mph and nearly capsized! Before it came to rest it had shed nearly all the body parts as the exploding tire tore a hole in the side and the pressure eventually blew it all apart.

The kids are coming in tonight for dinner.

Sounds like a nice trip! I like the sounds of that hat.

Don't go too wild at that party tonight! We don't want to have to bail you out in the morning .

Cool that you got to the Truck Museum. The last time we were at the ACD Museum the Truck Museum wasn't quite open yet but I vowed to come back - we haven't made it by that way since. When we lived in Ann Arbor we'd do the ACD as a day trip and it was great fun.

We went last year or year before to ACD....always worth a visit, but there is only so much time in a day for a couple of broken down old men!

Thanks guys! We really enjoyed the truck museum! There was a farily large collection of pedal cars too including some airplanes and the most spectacular was a dual cowl Deusenberg model J which would carry a passenger behind the pedaller!

My favorite truck there was a 31 International half ton which had simply stunning proportions.
