1998 E300TD turbo problem..
I was 100 miles into a 400 mile trip going up a grade when I lost power and got a CEL. Finished the trip ok and when I got home scanned the code and found waste gate sensor failure. Replaced the sensor with new, problem the same. I did some diagnostics today and verified that the vacuum line going to it was producing strong vacuum and that the hoses going to the waste gate where good, no restriction on breather hose. The waste gate holds vacuum and the arm retracts. Seems to all be doing its job, but the car feels like it has no turbo boost at all and the CEL stays on with the same code. Not sure what to look at next

Check the hose running from the EGR flap area to the drivers side firewall where the MAP sensor is. There are two hoses underneath the manifold, one to a vac pod by the ABS and the other to the MAP sensor which limits the turbo in cases like mine. Make sure there are no holes, leaks and they are connected properly or just get a new hose and replace.
I had the same symptoms, no turbo/power and CEL, and the fix was a new hose running from this area to the sensor on the drivers side firewall. Yet another w210 P0243 Thread:Pinhole in line from EGR/IM

Thank you! That was the problem. Hose had slid off. Anyone with a 210 turbo diesel should check these hoses. Can't believe I have driven over 1000 miles with the car at half power over somthing so simple.
