How many quarts of ATF do you get out on a fluid and filter change in your 98/99 E300?
Or should I say, how many quarts does it take to get the level where it is supposed to be after draining?

Just shy of 8 quarts....IF you have a torque converter that can be drained. Some of the 99's don't have a TC drain.

The reason I ask, is that I did my friends car today and was able to get just shy of 9 quarts to get it in the middle of the range on the dipstick. After draining the pan and torque converter, I used compressed air in the converter drain and got at least another half quart of the old fluid out. I imagine doing that flushed out the cooler as well.

I hope you had a high grade filter/dryer on that air line...compressed air is wet, oily, and full of dirt.

But of course!

Been so long ago that I changed mine out, I honestly don't remember. But I'm sure that I still have the receipt. Or passed it to it's new owner. Sending unit, gasket, filter. Drained the torque converter sump as well.
