Question Cost of new water pump 300sd

Hi guys, looks like the water pump on my 82 300SD is beginning to leak. the price I recieved frrom MB here in Kitchener, was well over 100.00 Canadian.. $80.00 + US..

I see references here that new ones can be obtained for approx 25 + core?? Thats one heck of a difference.

A rebuild from a 3rd party was quouted at 104.00

One from a wrecker...75.00..

If these are that much cheaper in the US its worth my while to drive down to Buffalo!

What do people in the know think of these prices?

Advice on the one from the wrecker?
TIA

Ed

Thanks for the reply, I tend to agree about putting in a used water pump. I'm looking at the Fastlane site and see two pumps..one for about $30..the other $53.00

Is there a reason why I should spend the extra 20 on the more expensive part?

thanks again

Ed

The OE part number is 110-200-17-20-88 & the official MB list (reman part) from USA dealers is $25 with a $50 core charge.
Cores must be a MB original pump not aftermarket.
Most aftermarket pumps are made by Graf in Italy.

I remember we bought 50 water pumps from a vendor going out that were OE and it only cost us 15.00 each, that was years ago I wish I could find that deal now.
