If I lived in cold climes, I'd be tempted to install an intake glow plug. Today, we hardly need glow plugs at all - it's 88F here.

It stalled due to lack of ability to create enough heat for combustion a post glow would have solved the stll. Fuel gels at a much lower temperature.

Watch the video (glow plug light) again, after glow was on all the time. I have modified my glow plug relay to manual glow and the glow plug light has been rewired/ connected across the glow plugs.
I thought it was due to gelled fuel. Per this article https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=what%20temperature%20does%20diesel%20fuel%20gel diesel starts to get around 10 to 15 F. Tonight will be single digit again. I will try starting it again tomorrow morning the same way except I will warm the fuel filters and IP first with a hair dryer for 10 minutes. If it starts and idles, can we say it was gelled fuel?

I'd be surprised if you had fuel gelling issues, winter blend diesel should be good deep into the negatives before it gels. Unless you have some old fuel from the summer, shouldn't be an issue. If you do, dump some diesel 911 into it.

In my first post, I said tank has approx 80% winter fuel- that is not correct. Just checked my records, Jan 7 2016 I put in 10 gal to top up the tank of summer fuel. The 300D is not my daily driver and does not get driven a lot.

I'd be surprised if summer blend gelled at anything above -10F if you still have some summer fuel in other containers try pouring it and see if it crystallizes or has gelled.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gel_point_(petroleum) Gel point is the temperature at which diesel or biodiesel fuel freezes solid and can no longer flow by gravity or be pumped through fuel lines. This phenomenon happens when a fuel reaches a low enough temperature whereby enough wax crystals have formed to prevent any movement in the oil. For #2 diesel this is usually around 17.5 °F (−8.1 °C).

I have a bottle of summer diesel in a sealed jar outside which does not crystallize until the temps are below -25C I don't know when it gels. I did see the article makes sense but I have observed otherwise.

Wax point where the cold fuel has wax solids suspended in it, which will clog the filter. The fuel will appear fine but sometimes has a slight cloudiness. On our big diesels we run (electrically) heated RACOR filters. Mercedes has a fuel heater pre-filter which will do the job, ... once the coolant running through the fuel heater is warm.
I have had a filter clog years ago, below zero F, got two blocks from the office as it lost power and died. I warmed the filter and was on my way. I too run my '87 infrequently in the winter (road salt here) and if I do it's in the garage where it is above freezing and the fuel is getting heat soon. My little loader also has a tank of summer fuel, I pour in an anti-gel and haven't had a problem with it (sits outside, snow removal). With your tank roughly 50/50 summer & winter, I expect that there is enough kerosene in it to run well below freezing, 8-10F should be doable. If you think it's the cold fuel, try a hairdryer on the filter and you should have good flow.

It's a backup warning in addition to the cluster glow plug light that my manually controlled glow plugs (controlled by a magnet), are on.

Safe to say the engine stalling after start yesterday was due to filter blockage from gelled fuel.
