I have an aftermarket ignition tumbler and two keys. In this desk drawer. The quality does not appear all that great.

The tumbler in the 1984 300d is just starting to show an issue. I know one way or another I will change it before driving it again. I will probably take the tumbler out of a car I am junking. As it still feels really good.

My personal feeling is if you detect the tumbler is in any condition other than perfect. Change it before the next use. This has to beat a lock up hands down.

I may even order a replacement from Mercedes rather than take any chance at all. . Depends on my willingness to spend a few dollars at that time.

It is also just not me that questions the quality of these aftermarket tumblers. A seller claims he reworks them before he sells them.
