1990 300D rough 1-2 shift

Just put a reman tranny in my 90 300D. The problem is I'm having a rough 1-2 shift all other shifts are firm. I've followed the FSM to set the vcv ccw until it stops at wot. Mod pressure set to spec and vac system gone over for leaks. I replaced all the vac soft hoses in the engine bay. From vac pump to vcv there is a green .7mm orfice installed. Bowden cable set with slight tension. Also, I should add that I've done the following mods. Removed EGR, BFS, added a pressure wastegate, and adjusted the ALDA one turn ccw from factory setting, and removed over boost protection (have hose directly from manifold to ALDA and I have a boost gauge installed I keep a sharp eye on). Car makes good power shifts nice at full throttle. Has a little bit of a shaky idle at times but other than that runs really well. The rough shift happens mostly at slight to half throttle warm and cold.

My question is, now that I've messed with the ALDA and deleted the BFS shift circuit can I play with the adjustment on the VCV to fine tune it? Just wanted to know what you guys recommend adjusting.

Thank you in advance!!!
Jim

See the links on post 3 of this thread:http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/371182-adjusting-shift-points.html
They were very helpful to me.

I fine tuned the vacuum bleed off with a drip irrigation needle valve teed into the line in place of the orifice restrictor.
The cost was less than $4 for a pair at the local OSH.

Note, erratic shifts can arise from vacuum leaks in the HVAC system.

Try backing off the tension on the Bowden cable a tad

Update: I backed off the tension on the Bowden cable, turned my modulator ccw a quarter turn, removed the restrictor and this did the trick. Shifts are smooth and firm.

Thanks again!

Nice one - don't let them "slam" - "Firm" is a bit German but "slam" will break stuff.
