W115 Shifter Switch...

I pulled the console in my 1972 220D today in order to replace my speedometer cable.

Now that I'm done with that, I'm poking around and cleaning up a bit.

Does anyone know what the switch on the upper right hand side of the shifter is for?

It looks like it is briefly engaged when you shift into 3rd gear.

I understand that the switch on the left hand side is for the reverse lights but the other switch has me scratching my head.

My only guess is that it may be tied into the "Fasten Seat Belts" reminder light.

Maybe after you hit 3rd gear it gives up and turns out the light?

How very odd. I just went through the w115 FSM and that switch doesn't show up in any of the images/diagrams. The reverse light switch is mentioned and an adjustment spec is provided, but I was unable to find anything helpful regarding your question. So basically, I need not have even posted. haha.

Where do the wires go? Following them might give you some sort of answer -- or you could unplug it and see if something stops working.

The switch is also nowhere to be found in my Chassis and Body Spare Parts List Edition B from 1973.
