New headlights for an older gal...

Found a '95 W124 at the LKQ in Charlotte. I went to get the antenna grommet and such but it was in worse shape than mine. Walked around to the front of the car never expecting to see the headlight assemblies still in place but I'll be danged in they weren't. Corner lights and all! $30 per assembly. I was pleased with that price. Now, I need to find some blank out panels without the wiper holes in them.

Nice upgrade, now you can drive at night!

Were the filler panels not on the '95?

You didn't want the wipers? Optional on the '94/'95, harder to find, and the same as the Euros.

They're not appealing to me.

They were a direct swap. Went together almost effortlessly.

Are connectors the same or did you have to re-route wiring?

The facelift headlamps bolt and plug right in, direct swap. There is a cutout on the lens for the new-style hood, but I've seen these on cars with the old hood and it really isn't obvious unless you know what the shape is for.

Wiper system also bolts right in. In '94 the US/NA cars went to the Euro wiper system, so you can use a Euro wiper motor, or a facelift wiper motor. It wipes from the other side of the headlamp (and actually wipes the entire thing including foglamp) so the filler panel is also different if you install wipers, you need the Euro/Facelift panel. If you ever run into snow and sleet you know that the wipers are a huge safety enhancement, probably not so much for the dry climate folks.

These lights are so much better, and essentially the same as the Euro (except city lights and leveling) with much better optics than the original plastic lights. The fog-lamp is white on the facelift lights also, which doesn't have that French look, but does a much better job of lighting up the side of the road with color clarity than the yellow.

IMO there is no down-side to going facelift headlamps and I believe that they are the same light output and pattern as the Euro. I've had both the early 124 with OE Euros, early 124 with NA lights (awful), and late 124s with facelift lights.
