W123 vent flap foam replacement/fan lubrication
I have searched for this, but not met with much success. I have the dash out of my 85 300d to do a service on dash pods, hoses, etc. While I have it apart, I thought it would be nice to clean off and replace as much of the foam on the vent flaps as possible. Has anyone done this and can recommend how to remove the flaps and what to use for new material? I am hoping to avoid pulling the heater/evap box, though that will depend on how much junk i find in there when I pull the fan and look in via inspection camera.
Also, can anyone recommend a lubricant for the fan shaft, since I will have it out? Thanks! |

This is a video from a guy who did the evaporator & heater core on a 126. He did a full rebuild and for the flaps he used billiard felt. Jeff |
