Monovalve repair kit

I don't have any extra monovalves and Pelican only lists OE parts at more than I'm willing to pay. Other sites are out of stock. Has aftermarket access to this part gone by the way side? If so, I'll be sure to grab all I see in the yards.

unfortunately the pricey MB replacement is the only reliable part available.
I would not waste money on aftermarket.

$190 for the repair kit. $488 for the entire valve. Neither is going to happen. I'll figure out how to add a mechanical valve somewhere and/or snag some at the yard.

Ball valve FTW!

Granted, if you live in a climate where it's not going to be as simple as on in the fall and off in the spring and or you're lazy, it's not the most ideal solution.

But a ball valve and no aux pump and I can bake cookies in my car.

I would by several aftermarket or used monovalves. The diaphragm is defective in the aftermarket and old in the used, both to fail shortly like your current one

A gate valve is much better at temperature control than a ball valve. Through rods and joints, you can put a mechanical temp control knobs in the cabin and won't have to deal with the electronic temp control ever again.

If you can get "a few years" out of a knockoff monovalve cartridge, go for it. A few weeks wouldn't be worth my time and money.

Another option which is much easier to implement than the gate vavle is a purely mechanical heater control valve from the early VW Rabbits VW Rabbit Heater Valve ::Heater Valve: Rabbit, Jetta, Scirocco & Others, Cable Operated - sku:2711 - - PartsPlaceInc.com

At that price I can't say whether it's a quality part or not but as long as it doesn't split open and leak all your coolant out and overheat your engine, what else can happen to it?
