82 300SD window wiring?
I've had my 82 300SD for nearly 3 years now and bought it from a gentleman that told me the window switch needed to be replaced for the front driver side window. He got that info from a mechanic that disconnected the wires. It didn't bother me to buy a new switch until recently, but now I can't figure out how to wire the window. Here are pictures of what I have: a green and a black wire coming from both the motor and the switch, the pair of screws on the door for the connections, and a set of wires (the yellow and red in the picture) that I'm not sure are related to the window.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. |

The green goes to green, black to black screwed onto the terminal block.
The other 2 wires are for the exit light in the bottom of the door panel. |

Try this 2 wires from the motor ,bring through the hole and put on the black block, one top one bottom .The other 2 wires ,the one with white conectors on go on from the front of door on top of the 2 you fitted first same coolour to each ,refit the screws .White conectors go to your switch in the door .As long as all the wires are the same colour on the black box in the door it should be ok.All you doing is joining up the motor to switch

The switches are easily rebuilt. It's no more or less than cleaning a few contacts within. A search on this site will tutor you though the process. You can buy the materials needed to rebuild the switches for less than 10 bucks. Do them all while you're at it.
If you're really concerned about the motor wiring just take the panel off the other door. This website can help with just about any problem you have on your car.

Interesting??
I've never heard of an 82 300SD in W124 version. Everything I've read says the W124 came out about 10 years later. Are we talking about another car???? |

This is most definitely a w126.
I also should have said that I already tried joining similar colors, black to black and green to green, and got nothing. I also tested the wires from the switch and was getting power. |

Have you tested the motor? they don't often go bad but sometimes they'll get stuck...but really not often on the drivers window as it gets used the most. Most window trouble is from lack of regular use.

Do you have power on BOTH wires? They should normally both have 12v+. One or the other will ground only when you press the switch.

I have an 84 SD.
I just removed the door panel and pulled the window motor wires to check the right power window motor (Passenger's Side). Both green wires screw to the top slot of the little black power block. The other wires screw to the bottom slot in the block.
If there is power to the block and the motor doesn't turn then check your switch and the wires running through the boot between the door and the body. It is an accordion type rubber boot located between the hinges.

If you have power to the motor, but it wont turn, try holding the button to roll up/down the window and thumping it with your fist or a rubber mallet gently. The w123 chassis (and likely the 126) have a temperature/current overload protection device. Sometimes you can reset that by thumping the motor and the window will work again. If so, i suggest cleaning and greasing the window regulator and slides. I did this on 3 windows so far on my 123 and have had no problems since.
