Camper Fun!
Hey Gang, I just ran across this little number in my journey!
(I wonder if it leaks...)

Did the Mercedes start as a wagon or a 4-door? Hard to tell from the pic. Guessing it's NOT fast nor quick!

Looks to me to be the basic 4 door wow what a great idea you could really go touring with that thing.

Thus, unless it was a custom wagon, it started as a 4-door. |

Started life as a sedan, you can tell from the tail lights. They have been cut down. the wagons would be taller.

Unless rear ended, ruined a good car for no gain. They'd have to do much to have the back end support that weight. Old trucks can be bought as cheaply and would haul better.
A friend of mine used to make a point about using the right tool for a job by saying that you could go on a family vacation in a dump truck or haul dirt in the trunk of a Mercedes but neither are well suited for the application.

I would bet it took more than one of what is above the camper door to devise and complete it. Some people also do not like being passed by a similar vehicle on the road. They will never have to worry about that.

It looks exactly like the one I saw years ago in So. Cal. If that is a CA license plate, I am sure it is the same one.

This suspiciously looks like the same exact pic location from 08.
If this camper is an empty shell it might not be so bad, even better if the structure was aluminum rather than wood. In the 80's a company in Sweden took the class SAAB 900 and made campers out of a few. In the 80's there was / still is a BMW tow truck floating around. It isn't like this car in an unaltered state will bring $ 1 Mil at an auction. And, if our guy bought a generic pickup we would never have this thread going. . . |
