delay when shifting
I have a 84 300d and when I'm shifting from park to reverse or drive it has a 2-4 second delay when it finally engages. The car shifts great and very smooth otherwise any ideas?

Transmission filter, maybe start with that and a flush. I was going to say let the clutch out sooner but I wondered if you'd think that was funny.
If you search transmissions on this board you'll find more than you need to evaluate a solution.

Symptom of a transmission getting well worn? Time for reverse engagement is a test you use when buying. Less delay the better.
Always read up and get the transmission fluid level where it should be. These transmissions seem a little more sensitive than many in this way. |
