well... I wouldn't go THAT far... i've just been on here a LOT and I seem able to remember what I've learned from others on here. my mechanic general skills are fine, but the mercedes specific stuff is entirely gleaned from THIS wonderful forum (originally MercedesShop.com of course)

I do post on here a lot... sometimes i pull up the threads I've commented on and it blows my mind how little I knew back then.

it's THE FORUM POPULATION that REALLY knows what they are talking about, I'm just good at re-dispensing knowledge... and I'm glad to do it!

(of course, buying each and every kind of vehicle to have one to work on helps...)

Well next month (May) will be nine years. Lurked for a while till I decided to open my big yap and say something.

If it wasn`t for the early pioneers that started "Mercedeshop" Forum and trudged on posting how to do things and what worked and didn`t.
What part fit other models etc... we wouldn`t be where we are today.

Everything I know about these old Diesels I learned from this Forum.
Started out with one 85 300D, and now have six MB`s that followed me home.

Just noticed Iam at 9256 posts, I should hit the 10K mark by next may.

Time flies for all of us.

I guess it is reasonable and understandable that many members will move up to newer models. For those that do this site will be needed more than ever. Locally the 123s are almost lost to history.

On another note of forum trivia....you're only a few hundred away from Brian Carlton's mark of 25,397 before he got banned.

This really is a tremendous forum. I don't know nearly as much as vstech and a lot of others...but what I DO know has come almost entirely from this forum...or from forum members via email.

I started in the fall of 2003 complaining to Firestone that they must not have changed the oil in my newly-acquired 92 300D since it was still black! I guess I've come a long way.

You are a very big asset to this forum John. Congratulations on your anniversary. For me it has been 15 years. I am backsliding a bit on my posts as my Mercedes knowledge remains static and technology forges ahead.
