I was April of 2007 as well. I've taken a long break because I haven't had a Mercedes in awhile and I've been busy with 4 kids but I have a w164 Bluetec now so I'll be around more often.

I've been here almost 17 years now. I don't post much since the old 300SD is a weekender car now undergoing a rolling restoration and the 300D has been gone for years. Most questions that I need answers to have been answered here years ago, so that reduces my need to post. This forum has a wealth of information, and it kind of bugs me when newbies in Facebook groups ask basic questions about old MB diesels that could easily be answered with Google Search, and the results often lead HERE! (Guess I'm an old man now )The newer generation seems to think that Uncle Kent has all the answers to what ails old MB diesels. I know he provides a service and I'm not knocking him for that, but I was daily driving one of these cars when he wasn't on anybody's radar, and even when he was, I wasn't going to spend money to order a guide or special tool from him when that information is readily available on these forums for free!

Thumbs up

Welcome home ! .

Is that 'Freddie The Freeloader' in your avatar ? . (I'm old too) .

The forums are changing as the older cars age out .

Sad but it's also natural .

Nope, it's Jerome from "Martin".

I noticed the change about 10 years ago. The popularity in old MB diesels increased when people wanted to run their cars on WVO and grease. Unfortunately, that sent a lot of them to the junkyard, and whatever else was left was snapped up by hipsters and their values went up, which I suppose is a good thing. They're finally going from being just another old car to being appreciated as classics worthy of preservation. I do remind myself to be patient with the new generation.

I almost got swept up with the change and briefly considered a E250 Bluetec for a daily driver, but I decided I didn't want a car note and came back to reality. It was a nice car too!

Get off my lawn!

Seriously though I'm rather active on the Facebook W123 and W124 groups and I do try to encourage the younger folks to do their own work and answer their questions if I have an answer since I would rather see the few cars which are left still running instead of being scrapped.

Coming up on 15 years (Joined Aug 2005)
Still have the same car as a DD (87TD) that was the reason for my joining in the first place. I dont post much, which is a testament to the vast amount of archived data on this site and a great search feature or, the reliability of my diesel or, a little of both. Looking forward to many more years to come...

Top shelf posters one and all.........

Been here about 10 years and have found some of the smartest vehicle owners I have ever encountered, and the most helpful! As time marches on, both the cars and the owners are getting older and can no longer do a lot of the physical work themselves, and many of the needed replacement parts are no longer available. Have to say I really enjoyed my time here and loved reading the posts put up by its members.
