Recommended Brand For Aux Fan Replacement?

Hi All,

The driver's side fan on my 300D is toast. Spins freely but does not power up when given power at the connector.

I haven't looked any further at it.

What brands are good/quality?

Yikes! MB branded lists for $462....can get for $342. Almost wonder whether you need it in Ohio.

I pulled the engine from my '93 SD, it has twin fans (haven't tested but they spin freely), maybe the same part?

PS...the reason I make the Ohio comment is that, on the 99 E300 I had, one of the cooling fans wasn't working (simply due to a broken belt...only one fan is motorized). This had no adverse effect on the ability of the system to stay cool....not only up here in New England but also a trip last summer to North Carolina.

I had installed an aftermarket fan from pelican sorry cant remember the brand and I just checked but no visible markings. That was 7 years ago and going stronger than the second original fan which I am thinking of now replacing. I wouldn't hesitate to install another $80 dollar aftermarket fan if that is still what they are worth.

I have a different Aux fan (SDL) however mine quit...turns out the fan motor contact brushes and armature were crusted with dust and debris. Cleaned it out and it's been running for over 100,000.

P.S. I jump the wires during summer...helps the AC out in the southwest summers.

I'll take it apart first, see what's what. If all else fails I seek a replacement..
