I made a system to pre-lube mine. It uses an old pressure cooker that I fill with oil and then pressurize with my air compressor. The air sits on top of the oil and forces it thru the oil passages by way of the oil galleys. There are pics on my build thread. Maybe one of the guys can make a link - I'm useless at that kind of stuff.

If you were closer I'd lend you my pre-luber but we're on opposite coasts. However, there are certainly systems near you. Modern LS engines and other require pressure pre-lubing as many modern engines can no longer be pre-lubed by spinning up the oil pump drive. I'd try any of your local speed shops and likely they can help you out.

Now that I think about it there is a company called RPM Industries that makes a pre-lube system for engines. I used to have one on an old Chrysler Hemi that I restored. The lifters in the old Hemi would leak down over time (I only drove the car every few months) and the pre-luber worked great. I think RPM Industries has a web site. I am pretty sure they specialize in both industrial and marine applications.

I'm stuck land locked in Nashville on a 1976 Bayfield 23 with a 7hp Virie gasser. The motor only has to suffice for getting into the harbor when there is a head wind. Fortunately, the carb is used for racing go carts with parts plentiful and information readily available. I'd love to have some water with wind. We almost have to have a storm coming before going out to play. The current situation will prevail at least for the next few years until the youngest goes to college.

Professor Google turns up lots on the Gulfstar 50. Looks like a lot of boat. I've read of people having problems getting their on board diesels to run. The 617 is as reliable as they come. Even my SDs with 180,000 & 250,000 miles only need a good good battery, synthetic oil and a glow to light almost immediately. Are you planning any long trips?
