I just picked up an 87 SDL for the interior, engine mounts, injection pump, oil filter housing, and a few other things for the 83 SD.

I'll likely be cutting out the spare tire well and a couple other things, other than that the shell, rear doors, and a few other random bits will be up for grabs if anyone would like them. It'll be a few weeks before they are ready, figured I would let you all know in advance in case someone on here wants it before it goes on CL free section. I'll get some pictures going once she is stripped down. I still havent decided if I am going to store the 603 short block, head is trashed, that may be included also.

Will start stripping car this week.

While cleaning out my garage, I found a old Webasto heater from a euro W126 gasser. I hooked it up and found that the water pump and likely fuel pump are dead, though the burner did ignite (for a short time, since no water flow). I had planned on using it on the 300SD to help with cold weather starts but was not able to find replacement motors for the pumps. The control panel is missing, but the unit may be of use to someone, so putting it out there before I take it to the scrap yard.

Ok folks, last call for the SDL! Today I'll be pulling the suspension, dash and engine, then working on finding a new home for what is left of the body. The rear doors are still there, with almost all parts. The engine block will be available with cracked head, but no accessories. It did run, but would collect water in a cylinder when sitting for awhile. The body will have a portion of the front clip, rear quarter, and spare tire well cut out

Let me know if you want anything saved otherwise will be sending this one off to the steel yard. Current state:

Do you still have the two belly "sound encapsulation" panels?

86-300sdl, I'm keeping those belly panels, if the SD is ever totaled I am keeping the grey interior parts to swap everything to a long body, and unfortunately for you this set is firmly adhered to the grey carpet.

Junkman, I agree. I wish I could save this body, and many more like it flowing through the pull it yourself yards around here. This one does have some rust problems, but a few hours and a new drivers door could have solved them. The om603 w126 cars are pretty few and far between these days, I kept an eye out for years for this combination of engine and interior color on the cheap. If only I had a few acers somewhere...

is the engine usable? what head is on it? if its a 22 head and not cracked i would be interested...

The engine has a 14 head that was hydrolocked in one cylinder due to crack when I picked it up. I was able to evacuate the water and it ran, though with low compression in that cylinder.

Let me know if you want the short block, should have it and the rest of the shell, rear doors, lower rocker panels, clean diesel tank, sunroof, and US headlamps with broken doors until tomorrow.
