New Delivery Valve O-Rings and Biodiesel Concern

Hello All,

Just a quick question about biodiesel and delivery valve seals...

3 years ago, much to my enjoyment, the delivery valve seals were replaced in my 87 300d; very happy about this!

I am running B20, but like to use B99 sometimes and was thinking of going to all B99...

My question is, will B99 degrade my new delivery valve seals, or is this something I should not worry about...I doubt my mechanic used viton for this project...

Thanks!

Hey Kelley, I have a 91 300D (OM602) running full strength biodiesel. When I bought the car, the previous owner had been running full B99 and there was fuel leaking from the delivery valves. Here is the kit I used:

Viton for Mercedes Engines at FRYERPOWER HOME

It includes the proper o-rings for the DV seals as well as other critical items in the fuel system. It's great to have on hand. Do you do any DIY maintenance on the car? I would recommend using as much B99 as you like, and if you happen to encounter a fuel leak, go ahead and fix it with the proper o-ring.

Modern fuel hose and o-rings are at least a little resistant to biodiesel IIRC, so there's no sure fire way to know if the parts your mechanic used will hold up unless you test it.

Much better chance having 3 year old seals than 30 year old ones.
Go ahead and run whatever blend you like and upgrade the rubber to viton as issues present themselves.
I need to do my dv seals as well, I have had new viton ones for some time, just haven't gotten around to it. Once the pump works out all the air, she runs like a dream.
My wife hates the smoking and noise when I first crank it though
