Late W124 Relays Behind Instrument Cluster
1 Attachment(s)
My 1995 E300D (W1214, OM606NA) has two relays on the left side and behind (really, in front of) the instrument cluster. My older W124 (1987 300D Turbo) didn't have these relays. Any idea what they're for?
The silver one (5 pins, SPDT) is 001-542-02-19 and the blue one (3 pins, SPST) is 001-542-99-19. Jeremy |
Not sure on blue, but IIRC the silver is for the engine immobilizer, I had to jump a couple pins on mine as it was malfunctioning and keepiyme from starting my car.

Does your car have a climate control Rest switch?

Whew....I read another forum, and discovered that apparently fuse #5 also controls at least some portions of the instrument cluster including the tach. A quick replacement of fuse 5 fixed my tach problem, and I was then able to pull the proper relay out to jumper. Once I get a bit of wire that is.
