2008 E320 Bluetec Transmission and Vibration Issues
Hello all,
I have a 2008 E320 Bluetec with 98K miles. I am experiencing two issues and was hoping that I could get some help with. I'm not sure if the two issues are related or not. 1. Transmission - When I slow down to stop at a red light the transmission seems like it's slow to downshift. When the light turns green and I press on the gas pedal, the car doesn't move. The engine revs, but the car doesn't go anywhere. Once this happens, I shut the car off and start it back up and everything is fine. It drives like normal. This has happened twice in the past 2 months. 2. Vibration - If I'm driving between 55-60mph, I can feel a vibration coming from the under or the rear of the car. It also sounds like I'm going over some rumble strips. The vibration stops if I left off the gas. But between 60-70mph I still have the vibration and noise, but when I let of the gas, the vibration and noise is still there. List of MB dealer repairs in the last 6 months: 1. Complete Transmission flush and filter change. 2. Front and Rear Flex Discs 3. Rear differential fluid change 4. Wheels checked for bends. no bent wheels 5. 4 new Michelin tires and balance twice. I'm at a lost. Not sure what else it could be or if the two issues are related. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing these issues? |

Two issues started at the same time? Loose transmission yoke nut possible on this model or already checked? Just a wild guess as I know absolutely nothing about these transmissions. I would also post this problem in the general Mercedes gas cars forum. Based on the same drive system would probably be found in the gas cars and some Mercedes working mechanics may frequent that area of the forum. It may be a problem that is far from unknown.

The car has 98k miles.
The issues did not start at the same time. The vibration started first and then about a month or so later the transmission issue occurred. |

Check for codes in transmission. Usually the car slipping into neutral at a stop and not into a gear is a symptom of a bad conductor plate.
It's very common on the 722.9 transmissions. |
