W123 300D Lower Radiator Hose No Longer Available from MB?

I'm based in the UK and was informed that the lower radiator hose for my 84 300D with aircon was no longer available in the EU. Part number A1235000075.

A quick search yield the URO aftermarket hose, which I am hesitant to purchase, unless they are the OEM manufacturer. Any suggestions? Is this hose available in the US, where aircon is more common?

Thanks!

It shows up on the website I am pasting in below, however you would need to confirm with them that they can actually get it. Some parts still show up in their listings but cannot actually be had....

Many thanks! Found one on Amazon.

Is Gates the OEM manufacturer for these hoses? If so, why on earth would MB USA and EU discontinue supplying the hoses?

I will be villified for saying this but I have had URO Radiator Hoses on My 84 300D since 2007 and they have been fine.

The only issue I had was one of them (I think the upper one) went on tight around the Radiator Nipple. So if I need to remove the Radiator I would leave the Hose attached to the Radiator and remove the Hose from the Termostat Housing.

However what URO quality was like in 2007 may or may not be the same now.

My Coolant Bypass Hose is Myele and has also caused no issues.

With any coolant Hoses if you can remember when the Hood is open take a quick look.

Peach parts lists for sale on its website a Mercedes lower hose for the 1984 E300, part number 123-501-18-82 MBZ. The cost is $32.15. The URO hose is $7.25. The part number you are using may be wrong.

Apparently there are two hoses - one for a AC and another for a non AC OM617 radiator.

The part number I used was supplied by Benz.

rock (P-P blocks full name) lists numerous brands and PN's.
I don't think M-B makes hoses, just marks up the price for their brand stamp.
I don't think URO makes hoses, just prices them affordably.
If you are excessively fussy about rubber hoses, expect many issues maintaining your car in the future. Must be a bit resourceful to keep these as a daily driver.
Whatever hose you choose, always put a spring in the lower radiator hose so it won't collapse under water pump suction. I coil some stainless-steel wire (Harbor Freight).

UK Ebay has the AC Delco Version 22058M but I have not read of anyone purchasing an AC Delco Hose for a Mercedes.

The Gates 20700 Lower Radiator Hose is also on UK eBay.

Both say they fit 84 300Ds.

This also showed up on ebay uk Radiator Coolant Hose Upper/Lower Continental Elite 61524 said it was for my lower radiator hose on an 84 300D.

Not on UK eBay but another company and number Dayco 61524

The information you were given, is correct.

MB's site in Germany confirms that they no longer have that part number.

Mercedes-Benz Classic Ersatzteile

Perhaps the part number has changed? There are several othe rnumbers listed for the bottom hose. For example, 1235010482 and 1235011882. Not clear what the difference is, from EPC or vendors I looked at.

Interesting that if you click on View Products, it says that that part number is only for cars up to 1983.
HOSE. ADDITIONAL FAN,COOLING WATER HOSES AND MOUNTING; Hoses made by Mercedes Benz. #1235000075

1235010482 is, it seems, the non A/C version and also only up to 1983.

1235011882 is also said to be non A/C version, but good for 1975-1985. But A-A comes up with this number for a US 1984 300D. I think all NA 300Ds had A/C.

Does seem a bit confusing!

Screwdriva 06-23-2016 06:53 AM

Most UK W123 models don't have aircon as standard. Very few had them as options, which makes this search even harder.

Does MB put its brand on Gates hoses?
