W124 OM606 722.4 (?) transmission computerized?
 

Hi, I've got a 1993 W124 300D donor for my worn out 1985 GW OM617. It's the OM606.910 engine, and I guess the transmission is the 722.4.

I was under the impression later W210 OM606 had an electrical computer operated transmission, which is basically a no go, and that the W124 OM606 had a vacuum operated transmission.

Last weekend when I got the engine out of the W124, I didn't see any vacuum lines going to the transmission, just a fairly large flat pin connector.

Is this transmission too computer operated, or just electrical somehow? How do I make that work in an ancient W460?

the W124 body 606 engine cars got the 722.4 transmissions, it should have a flat/rectangle shape connector on its select lever. This is the neutral safety switch. This switch enables the car to start in P and N and also makes the reverse lamps work. (there are only 4 wires in it)

There will be another one wire connector on the back - this is the kickdown solenoid. The vacuum line should be slightly ahead of the flat/rectangle electric connector.


The transmission is hydraulic shift but vacuum modulated.
