Roadtrip Florida to Michigan

My family is taking a vacation this June, we are going to visit my uncle and his fam. in Saginaw, MI. Here's the particulars, 6 or 7 people, 2 cars my 87 300D turbo and my brothers 87 190D turbo milage 1 way is about 1100 miles this will be the longest 1 way trip that we have taken by car. We will be keeping track of fuel milage and will post results when we get there. My brother and I are very excited about this trip and look forward to the long drive, I'm glad my car has XM radio to help the miles go by quicker.

A warm and hearty welcome we Michiganders extend to you Deezuhl!! Saginaw is nice but if you're going to be up a here a little while you need to visit the west side of the state, in particular the northwest portion along Lake Michigan. It just doesn't get much better than that. There is quite a few of us Dieseler's in Rockford (just north of Grand Rapids) give us a shout if you can make it over to the better side of the state.:D

Don't wait till the tank is empty to stop! That 300D can go nearly 600 miles between fillups! Ditto for the 190.

You will enjoy the drive!

R90skirk- We will probably stay in Michigan for two weeks, hopefully we will do a little site seeing during that time. My uncle works for GM (not to sure what he does)and hope we might get a tour of one of the plants. Psfred- We plan to take I75 all the way up with a stop in Chattanooga TN. to see Ruby Falls. I actualy have a 300d turbo and it only has a 14 gallon fuel tank I generaly get about 400 miles on the tank berfore it needs a fill up, I'm hoping to get milage in the high 20's or low 30's during this trip. My brother will most likely get milage in the low to mid 30's his car is pretty stingy when it comes to fuel consumption.

Oh by the way are there any water parks in Michigan or other amusement parks.

I'm a Michigan native, though I've been slummin' in Dallas for the last decade or two.

I too recommend the west side of the state. Lots of neat towns along the lake Michigan shore. My folks have a home in Traverse City; that's a nice area. Sleeping bear dunes are an attraction in that area. And of course, no visit to Michigan would be complete without a trip to Mackinac island. (Hint: you can't take your car.)

As for amusement parks, there really aren't any of note in the state. The best is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. It's a pretty serious park with some of the biggest roller coasters in the US.
