Vacuum Pump//1978 300CD
Completed the vacuum pump rebuild and I thought went pretty straight forward. But upon checking the vacuum supplied to the brake booster line, I'm getting a positive 10psi + instead of pulling a vacuum.
What did I do? I'm puzzled.... Any insight greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lance- |

Reversed check valves?
Now it's PUMPING air into the vacuum lines. Probably have the valves reversed. Take it apart and do it again. Carefully.

Also way back around 2007-2008 people were saying the O-rings that came in some of the rebuild kits were not fat enough in cross section to seal properly. Don't know if that is still an issue or not.
You might compare the new to the old O-rings and see. Also look in side the final Check Valve and see if all of the parts are still in it and it is not gunked up. That valve does not come with the rebuild kit.

Since you are making pressure it has to be the valving orientation. Or you have the two lines to the pump reversed if that is even possible?
For example I use reversed lines to make an air supply for my painting mask on a small vacuum compressor. Oil less vacuum pump of course. |
