The replacement primer pump I bought

came with an adapter, I figured it was for a different lift pump. The primer pump should work on your lift pump.

Cheers

So I checked and the thread size is the same as the Bosch primer pump. So I ordered one got in on as far as I could finger tight. Then couldn't get a wrench on it to tighten it. So I don't know if it works or not. But does anyone know how to change the fuel filters and reprime it without a primer pump.

Can't you use a crowfoot wrench to make it work? Or remove the entire lift pump from the IP to install it? Without a hand pump you can use the starter engine, but do not start for more than one minute or half a minute if you want to be careful. Fill the main fuel filter with diesel (from the old filter).

The lift pump that Goran sent with the SuperPump has no primer pump. I think it's an old-fashioned one. I cranked and waited and cranked and waited (the fuel filter was full) and eventually I started the engine on starter fluid and it caught and ran in about 30 seconds or so. Once fired up, everything works as normal. I know guys don't like starter fluid and it has it's drawbacks but used judiciously it seems to work.

Starter fluid [ether] and glow plugs do NOT go together!

Use an unlit propane torch or WD-40. WD uses propane as propellant and propane is what you want, , ,

A friends 76 W115 300D also has the primer pump on the fuel filter, not on the injection pump.
