Chatting with another forum member off line reminded of this thread, further update in case anyone is following.
Box has continued to improve almost to the point of not swapping out, if you give it some beans then noticeable but under normal to slightly heavy driving okay. The harsh changes have gone altogether which was my main worry adding further damage. |
Hey man, your information lives on. I am a new proud owner of an 84 190d I got for a steal! Without the knowledge I learned here I would not have been able to resolve my shift issues. I ordered accumulator kits based off this post I am going to tear into the VB once more and hopefully really smooth the shifting issues out! I am very appreciative to all who commented and shared knowledge on this post! My 1-2 and 2-3 shift before the bandaid repair I did were some of the most jarring shifts ive ever experienced. As if it were a manual and I was just dropping it into gear no clutch. Tires would chirp and clanking sound from transmission. It would cycle through the gears seemingly at its own digression and was an absolute dog when you'd let it eat. All of this was solved by essentially replacing a $5 spring. I only say all this for the next person reading this that thinks their car is done for or the transmission is going out because of harsh or quick shifts.
