Anyone have experience with window motor jamming?
On my 85 300D, the passenger window motor runs up and down fine until it gets all the way down and hits the stop. Then the motor jams and will not run.
If I remove the motor from the mechanism, then its runs in both directions again. Its almost like running the mechanism all the way down to the stop causes a mechanical alignment in the motor that jams it up. I'm running the motor both on and off of the mechanism on the bench (out of the car). The mechanism has been well lubricated and operates easily by hand. I have re-aligned the stop from one extreme position to the opposite with no change in behavior. Does anyone have any experiences like this? What did you do to fix it?

It's probably the switch. There are DYIs on the switch removal and refurbishing. It's a simple process and involves no special tools or skills.

As I said: I'm running the motor both on and off of the mechanism on the bench (out of the car).. There is no switch in the circuit; I am touching leads directly from a 12 volt power source to the terminals on the ends of the wires to the motor.

Are the teeth messed up on the regulator? Is the motor correct for the regulator (probably is or wouldn't fit at all)? There were several regulators with different drive gears on the motor. You can use anything from another 123 as long as you get the motor that matches the regulator.
Regulators are specific front, rear, drivers, passenger side.

There is an internal thermal overload relay built into the motors. If motor tries to keep running against the stop, the relay will trip and motor will not run again until it cools down. Sometimes those relays fail, and then people think the motor has died when all it needs is a new relay.
There is a thread here about this subject.

At the bottom end of the range of the front regulator there is an adjutable stop in the picture. On my the plastic part of the Stop was badly worn and the aluminum part was bent.
See if you can fix and or adjust the stop so the Window does not go down far enough to get stuck. If it is the rear, the frame of the rear regulators is made of some soft aluminum alloy that bends and distorts and when that happens the regulator gear slowly gets eaten up.
