More photos. It was a low mileage car with all original paint and upholstery.
Before and after.

Wow! Impressive cleaning job on the interior. What products did he use to get it so clean?

They look like Cocomats or perhaps a copy. Have them on my 72 SL made from sisal. 85 300D amazingly still has original sisal mats. They wear well!

Thanks for sharing the pictures Rollguy yes how did he get the interior so nice? Did he recover everthing or did it clean up that well? I'm very envious of all the extra space in the engine compartment as compared to my 85 SD has a lot more room w/o the extra firewall that I have in mine. I had a heck of a time to get the upper ball joint bolt in and out last week almost breaking a brake line off in process but got the job done. Your friend has a nice looking wagon.

The seats, carpet, and everything else in the interior except the dash (he got it from me), is all original and cleaned up. The car was missing some parts when he got it (SLS, engine parts etc), but all were found and replaced. The car was sold, and now resides in a car collection somewhere.

I am not sure exactly, but he has a knack for doing this kind of work. This is the same guy that restored the white coupe that I did the engine work on (had a knock, and turned out to be a bad piston OM617 N/A main bearing problem- I'm baffled Photo start at post 96). He enjoys spending many hours meticulously cleaning and restoring every detail of every part. This is not a talent that I possess, and I envy him.....Rich
