It took me a while to find a good insurance agent, if your agent won't write the policy, find a new agent.
Is the first party (Collision, Comprehensive0 the standard coverage, or is it for a stated value? If it's the 'standard' and usual policy it's for ACV, actual cash value. That is where we get hurt with these older or special cars.

Agents usually have limited markets. That is, agreement with a limited number of companies to write policies and any particular agent may not have a market for the stated amount coverage. Your suggestion to find another agent is therefore valid, but you may have to look a long way to find it. Companies don't like to write it as it's a limited market and they can usually Mickey Mouse the rates to really hit you with premiums. They don't like to do that.

Rather than fight that battle, I 'self insure', that is, I have no first party insurance. "Self insured." The battle and argument wouldn't be worth it to me should I sustain a loss. Much rather I'd prefere to fight with the 'other' insurance company, such as the OP is facing now. It's still not fun though I love a good fight!

Im not quite sure your question, but I have full, comprehensive insurance, with rental, roadside, etc. and in the event of a loss, the agreed upon value of my 300te is 10k. All of this is under 70 dollar/ month, with my multi car discount.

The agreed value answers my question. Agreed value ($10K) versus ACV (means what is to be determined at time of loss,) which is where we have the problem with the older or special cars. You pay the premium based on your agreement versus the rest of us who pay based on what the vehicle would be worth in the general market at time of loss.

What carrier are you with? The only offers I've seen had very restrictive mileage limits. Did you have to pay for an appraisal the contract was in force?

My insurance is with Grange. This car is listed as my daily driver, appx 15-20k miles per year. No appraisal, just my agent came out and took pictures of my car to verify it wasn't a total heap of garbage.

This is the thing with my/ our cars: kbb values them as junk, but to buy a good 90-93 300te 4matic with leather, and in good condition will take at least 8-10 grand. I showed him a few eBay listings but he didn't really need to see them.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback.

I've put through a claim review request with a third party appraiser to see how they value the car. If it's significantly more than the $2900 I'll proceed to renegotiate the appraisal.

My current living situation doesn't award me a ton of freedom to have a wrecked car sitting in the driveway to part it out, so I'm wary of holding onto it. But if someone here near Atlanta is interested in purchasing the car for parts, let me know and I can explore this route. I may post it on CL as well.

I'd probably have it towed to your place as soon as my insurance dispute is resolved. Engine has given no problems at 275K, reamed with new glow plugs. Auto trans has been rebuilt. Dash has minor cracks, but overall really nice. Bundt wheels with tires under 1k miles.

Let me know! Or else it'll probably have to go direct to the scrapyard.

3rd party appraiser only increased the value by $450 or so, putting the car at $3400. Probably not worth the whole process just to attempt to gain $300(net after appraiser fees). So insurance company $2900 it will be.
