124 headlight wiper relay

The headlight wipers on my 95 E300D don't work properly. They don't stop in the horizontal position and sometimes one stops working all together. They used to work fine. I've hooked up 12vdc to both motors and they'd run all day long. Makes me think it's the relay.

Do failing relays cause intermittent problems or do relays just fail outright?

I'd like them to work, or at least come to rest someplace other than in the middle of the headlight.

New relay in my future?

It's probably the limit switch contacts inside the motor.

Had this problem with my 124. Found a set of motors off a late 80s 126 in the junk yard, they were a direct swap.

there is a diode in the motors too, its actually buried in the plastics. If that conks out then it can either stop the motor in its tracks or also run the washer pump till the tank empties out.

I found this information on a SAAB site. Apparently SAAB parts are becoming unobtanium so repairing various parts is whats keeping them on the road.

The problem with the 95 headlamp wiper motors is that they are unique to that car because of the euro looking headlamps.
