AC Hose insulation

I'm hoping to add fresh insulation to my upper manifold hose (suction side) where it's a metal line that crosses the front of the cylinder head/valve cover. I've found some foam insulation tape that's suggested for temperatures up to 185 degrees F. Is that likely to be safe near this location? Obviously the line will be cool during operation, but I'm worried about the ambient temperatures near the front of the head. It looks like the original insulation was some sort of foam that's pretty thoroughly degraded - I found a little bit of it remaining buried under the cruise control servo that has turned crunchy with age.

I beleive the Nashua foil tape can help here.

Thanks,
I am only finding foil tapes, nothing with an insulation layer. Is that what you are talking about?

I used foam pipe insulation (Home Depot, I recall) in both my 300D's and has held up fine for several years. I used the better denser PN, split w/ adhesive. I added a few nylon tie wraps to help the adhesive. Don't recall if for 1/2" or 3/4" pipe. "As found", both cars had black foam stuff that had degraded and become gooey. Some might have been due to oil. My engines stay pretty clean now.

Use 1/2" closed cell self adhesive pipe insulation from your favorite box store... The black foam, not the gray stuff.

Alternatively, any hvac shop should have minisplit reinforced pipe insulation that has a strong protective covering.

The tapes aren't really suited for this.

Same as Bill and vstech above. I used the black foam type, from Home Depot, if I recall correctly. I think it's for one-half inch pipe. It has held up fine. I've used a few black zip ties as retainers.
