That rod should be a specific length so the throttle operates smoothly. There's no performance benefit of it being out of spec.

When I initially read your post without that link I was so frustrated because I've been trying to get these links all sorted out and your answer was so vague and that link was totally out of spec and It was misbehaving but you totally saved the day!
