New Windshield For My '93 300D

I just came back from having a new windshield installed in my 1993 300D. I managed to catch a piece of gravel flying from an equipment trailer while I was driving south on I-85 in Charlotte. It warms my heart to know that I broke the gravel's fall . I had a very nice star crack in my windshield about the size of a quarter. Safelite tried to repair it and just as they were finishing up the repair, the crack decided it would travel from one side of the windshield to the other. I had to buy a new windshield. I don't have glass coverage on the car since it's so old. I was surprised that it wasn't anymore than what it was, $191 installed. Not too bad. The repair was going to cost $147.

The tech that did the install handed me the keys to my car and said, "That's the coldest AC I've ever felt in an older Mercedes. It's freezing cold!" I just replied, "I rebuilt it myself."
