84 300D AC system

HI, Last year I replaced the stock heater/ cooling system box. The stock system did not work so I put an older box in from a older 240d which worked with cables instead of the vac. and elec. system it had. I installed two new switches, one for the AC pump and one for the fan. IT worked fine except I only had high speed. Well for the past two weeks the pressure in the system is at 25 lbs. one day and then the next day like today it reads 150 lbs. pressure. I not sure whats going on? The AC was working then it stopped. like I said, I tested it and it read 150lbs.! yikes! I know that's way to high. Can anyone help??

Where are you measuring refrigerant pressure, and with compressor on or off? Find a pressure vs temperature chart (saturated) for your refrigerant. Normally, I see ~70 psig at both ports after sitting overnight, at an ambient temperature ~70 F (Duracool, but about same for R-12 or R-134A). But, if the ambient temperature is 150 F in the engine bay after driving on a hot day, then 150 psig might be correct per the chart.
