W123 pulls right + FR noise
hey guys,
the '82 has a brand new front end in miles (less than 5k) but not in time - 5 years. - guide rods - control arm bushings - tie rods - shocks, steering damper - did not replace LBJs, or wheel races. LBJ's are 10 yrs old. it is now pulling to the right (was perfect after rebuild). when moving forward from a stop and at low speeds exhibits a 'bump bump' low frequency sound coming from the right front - it sounds like from the guide rod mount. not groaning. looking for diagnosis ideas as i dive in - everything still looks perfectly brand new underneath. thanks, dd

If the car sits often check for a sticking brake caliper.

I'd look at the wheel bearings.

+1 wheel bearing
Get one of those HF infrared thermometer guns, check the hub temperature after a drive. Compare side to side, if it's the wheel bearing it will be obvious. I would not let that linger, if the wheel bearing goes, you won't be going anywhere. If it happens at speed it can be ugly.

If you jack the car up you can also wiggle the wheel and check for looseness.
There should be none. Its also really easy to pull the hub and check the bearing.

thank you everyone!
Sugar Bear - right on - i just replaced the front calipers on this vehicle a couple weeks ago :-/ I'll check the bearing. In my 10 years of W123 ownership I've never had to replace one. I'll post pics. I happen to have a fancy FLIR camera from work so I'll take IR photos as well.

After putting all those parts on the front end, You will need to get an alignment.
