reliability of.. S212

Greetings!

This is my first message since I registered my account in the forum 12 years ago as. By that time I owned of '76 W123 (220D, then 240D, finally with 220D engine transplanted from W124).
Since then I also had:
- '81 W123 300D
- '86 W126 with 300TD engine from W124 (original engine: 4.2)
- '97 W210 E200
- '01 S210 E220 CDI
- '01 S210 E320 4matic (with LPG alias GPL)

And I bought last week '10 S212 E350 CDI 4matic - looks like a long journey from old good W123 to S212.

I wonder if it will be as reliable (even partially) as old good W123?

Do you have any thoughts, experience on new E class diesel?

-j

Very nice looking wagon. Shame we cannot get newer diesel wagons in the USA. Last time MB offered a diesel in a wagon for the US market was 1987 - 124.193 300TD with OM 603 turbo engine.

Welcome aboard 12 years late.

The reliability should be fine on that application. I put my cousin on same year/ model but in the US gasoline version. I have yet to figure out how to refill the front differential on it is the only thing that has me perplexed.

Thanks for all your comments!
Btw, last weekend I saw diesel engine from W124 installed in W210.
I should have taken a picture...
