Proper size bolt for flex plate to converter

Yes when my trans. man replaced my converter he forgot to tighten the connecting bolts and they got destroyed and my car stopped moving anyway a torque converter later does any one know the part# or dimensions of the 6 bolts? I know it is an 8mm × 1.25 pitcn the length looks to be about 12mm or about 1/2". Is the bolt a cap bolt with no washers or would it have a flat or a lock or both washers on it? It can't be too long or will bottom out in converter and the head ca'nt stick out too far or will hit on rear plate on engine. 617 motor 722.3 trans. Thanks

It realy sucks to pay someone to make mistakes and mess up your vehicle. I would surely have thrown this problem back on them and made the at least order the correct bolts from Mercedes.

I think the issues is going to be more what grade the bolts are supposed to be. I know that compared to the other typical grade 5 bolts on my Van the Flex Plate bolts were grade 8 washer head bolts with a locking coating on them.

When I look in eBay for "1984 Mercedes Flex Plate Bolts" I see a pic of a regular looing bolt with some sort of locking coating on it.
Part number 054 33017 001

The same search brings up what appears to be the Flywheel Bolts mislabled as flex plate bolts with a different part number.

Polking around I cannot find any specs. Perhaps someone could provide some used bolts or they could be had at a junk yard.

Used bolts with loctite or vibra-tite (renews that locking coating but).

Hey thanks diesel and JY I figured it out by closely measuring all the distances I am going to use a bolt from the ace store thats rated in the 10.9 class this is a heavier rating. Its 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch and 15mm long thats about 1/2" any longer it would bottom out in the converter. I will put a flat 8mm washer on some locktite and I will be good to go. The guy at the trans. shop that goofed my converter up I heard got fired heard he was a constant goof up. Do'nt like to see anyone get fired but maybe he was in the wrong line of work. Next issue is trying to get the pitman arm off bottom of steering box so far no luck got to hunt for the right tool or method.

A generic pitman arm puller should work.

You should be able rent one net free at Autozone.

The tool in Post #6 is a free reantal at Autozone. Don't by the ones that Harbor Freight sells as they are too brittle and the hooks crack off.

Yesterday I purchased same puller sixo pictured from H.F. for $15 and had to put a lot of force on it even with a 2' extension pipe turning it thought something was gonna crack but it came off I was very happy the key is to get a heavy duty proper puller and the one from H.F. worked fine ready to proceed putting another box on as soon as I can locate one. Thanks for all the help from forum members.
