95% of the way fixed

Thanks all for the input!

Today I jacked it up and realigned the shaft at the splines so that the - and = lined up, and voila most of the problem is gone! I drove around across a variety of slopes and up to 60 mph and found that sometimes there was a slight vibration around 40, but nothing at all like the previous issue.

One thing I've always noticed about this car is that I'll be cruising down the highway doing 70mph and there will be a low, slow pulsing sound. By slow I mean maybe 1 pulse every 1.5 seconds. Any ideas on what that might be?

I did note during my initial releasing of the driveline components that the on the transmission mount, one bolt was too easy to turn. When re-seating it I found that it had stripped. Judging from the bolt, it appeared the bolt was the softer of the two, and so I replaced it with a hardened one. However, today I found that one had also lost its grip.

So I'm going to replace the mount - it seemed too soft to begin with (an Anchor) - and I'm curious if that one side being short of torque spec is where the last of my vibration is coming from.

More to come.

That is great news! Believe me, I am familiar with how frustrating propeller shaft vibration can be.

The bad anchor and loose bolt for the transmission mount could very well be enough to cause the vibration that is left.

For the drone, I'm not sure what would be turning at that revolution at 70mph.

deja vu

Well, i ordered the transmission mount and drove regularly since my last post, attempting to stay 40mph or under. My mistake. I should've left the car parked and borrowed another from someone.

I've noticed the vibration come back over the past few days. Today the transmission mount came in and I went under the car to get it replaced, and found that now the new carrier bearing mount is worn out! Ripped, torn, obviously not right.

Luckily the flex discs seem perfect.

The car is parked now until i replace the carrier bearing/mount, transmission mount, subframe bushings, and motor mounts. I have everything but a fresh carrier bearing/mount.

Does anyone have a favorite carrier bearing brand and a place to find them? I thought mine was GKN or something like that, from A*****az, but they now only have Rein and Uro. I opted for Lemforder where I could on other mounts, with Meyle as a second choice.

Thanks and >embarrased emoji<

If I remember correctly I bought a Myele carrier and I used the bearing number and ordered either a US or Japanese Bearing to match from an eBay seller.

I have not seen any Lemforder drive shaft bearing carriers.

Thanks Diesel911 - I picked up a Meyle and await its delivery. My bearing may still be good, and I've got the luck of another car for 3 weeks so can order one if needed.

Not to hijack my own thread, but does anyone have an FSM link or a write up of the Subframe Mount replacement? I've seen Stretch's but I'd rather not remove the entire subframe if not necessary.

Thanks all for the help and suggestions!
