shame

if they would mandate biodiesel, less emissions.Do you no last year may 2015 audi wa making diesel from seawater, and carbon. No news since. We can use bio matter from garbage to make a different alcohol, that we don't need to convert engines over too.

Since current diesels are cleaner than gasoline cars, you would think that the EPA would be pushing the fuel, ... but that would make too much sense.
Better to push a hybrid technology from the last century that requires gasoline AND batteries ...
The only diesels I've found at dealerships currently are NOS cars, not current model years. The MBUSA website hasn't offered diesel GLs since about may, when they pulled them from the configurator, and most press info on the subject is about that old also.

Its like no one has the balls to push a fuel, that the oil companies don't own.If I owned BP i'd love to invest in making garbadge into fuel,or drawing carbon from the air.

I was told the same thing at a local MBCA event a couple months ago. The complete 2017 MY diesel lineup has been scrubbed from the US.

What is funny is I keep getting postcards and e-mails from the dealer telling me to trade up to a GLE diesel. It's a 2016 model that costs $56k. No thanks, I just got done fixing the oil cooler seals on my 2008 and it's almost paid off...

audi was making 45 gals. a week May 2015,then all news disappeared. I read somewhere if someone found alien tech that made every ones electric bill 5 cents a month, it would be considered a threat to global security. That person could be silenced, its within the law.Cause the banking system depends on monies from utlities.

But that doesn't explain how carbon is drawn from the air to make a fuel.

oh yeah fuel or oil is some type of hydro carbon.I guess using hyd. from the sea,and combining with CO2, you get a fuel, thru several stages.

The question would need to be whether this process is practical. As many who bought into the hydrogen-generator in the car hype found out: you need to put energy in to most processes to create a fuel. Creating energy from sun? Already energy, just lose some in the conversion. Wind and water? Same thing. This is why hydrocarbon fuels are so popular, natural gas for example comes out of the ground (almost) ready to burn. Crude oil less so, but is so portable once converted and doesn't need any special pressure vessel. Hydrogen is a great fuel, but needs to be converted from another source (takes lots of energy) and like NG it needs to be stored and pumped into storage at high pressure (another energy requirement).

I haven't read the conversion of seawater and air into fuel yet, but I suspect that it needs a fair amount of energy to convert. No free lunch. Oh, it's lunch time!

Right and the problem with hydrogen is that since it is the smallest atom it's a booger to contain. It passes through tiny gaps in seals that would stop things like air (mostly N2 and O2) or natural gas (CH4). Kind of like how the holes in the screen in your microwave oven door are too large to allow the RF at 2.450 GHz to pass, but the light (at ~500 THz) goes right through.

Also hydrogen reacts with many metals and turns them brittle. So it requires special alloys to build the containment, lines, and valve train.

Not to America, Canada or most of the rest of the world it's not. Not after what they did.
