No 2017 Diesels in US

Forgive me if this has already been posted here....but no 2107 diesels are being sold in the US. According to my local dealer, they literally have 2017 models sitting at port but they can't be sold because of the current emission regulations.

Wonder how long this state of affairs will continue....

Thanks a lot, VW!

Doing a quick google seems to return that that only applies to VW...

VW wasn't the first to use the rules to their advantage. In the early / mid 80's, a certain domestic auto maker had a "preconditioning" procedure that needed to be done before a tail pipe emission test.

As for 2017 sales, I came up with this, note the dates.

Apparently...I don't see one diesel on mbusa.com.

It looks like BMW will have the diesel car market to themselves in the US.

GM is going big into small displacement diesels in the US in 2017.

MB diesels

Right now only the OM642 is been 2017 approved. The OM651 is still undergoing recertification so models in production (like sprinters) are being called 2016 models into next year. We will not see a GL350d until second quarter 2017. Glk and e300d are in the same situation...

I ordered a new Sprinter mid September due in mid December and it will be a 2016 model still due to the 4cylinder spec.

Feds required additional testing on all Diesels.

My 2011 GL had so many issues with the Idea system that even the Dealer or Indies could not resolve. Until they master it I will not be buying one. I had to go backwards and get an 06 CDI and I am very happy about it.
One thing that I don't like is it sit's low which may be attributed to possibly week springs, I just wish it can be raised 1/2" otherwise it is a great car as described by SkidRowjoe, Shertx and others.

Alipak, the rear springs are a known issue on the CDI. Why the rears and not the fronts I'm not sure. Perhaps getting those replaced would solve your problem.
