In the land where being governor is just a shortcut to the Club Fed, a significant amount of gas station B20 (not truck stop) is 'splash blended' (north of I-80 & east of I-39). That is a blending method where 700 to 1400 gallons of B100 is dumped into the semi tanker (7000gal load) then topped off with D2 (similar ratio for smaller tankers). The truck drives down our fine roads and blending is achieved. This passes for B20 (more or less) blend. If you read the pump it will have some fine print about the B20 being somewhere between B5 to not more than B20. There is a significant tax benefit if the blend averages greater than B11. Another plus in our fine state is the law allows any brand of fuel to be pumped at any gas station (ie: you may be getting fuel from the Citgo refinery & terminal at Bob's BP or Mike's Mobil, or Sally's Shell - John Q Public is none the wiser). Unfortunately in Illinois there is no verifiable quality control with BD at the pump. Look for the quality disclaimer at the dispenser next time you are fueling. It's usally next to the tax stamp.
