Power steering leak

I have an 82 300td with a power steering fluid leak. The drip is coming off the oil pan. What part of the power steering fluid system would be located above that ? The read our keeps getting low but I haven't found the source of the leak. Thanks for any thoughts...

If the pump supply and return lines are linked via brace or otherwise touching the block in any way it could find its way there but a leak from your transmission I would think is a more probable culprit. What makes you think it's you P/S?

Degrease the Pump and Hoses and take it for a ride and inspect for oil leaks on both ends of the Pump (could be seals on either end of the pump) and where the hoses connect.

On other cars, old hoses have gotten cracks in the end and leak. They can be difficult to find because they are slow and the fluid may run. Best to replace if they have cracks but sometimes simply cutting 1/2" off takes care of the immediate problem.

On my w123, the low pressure PS hose had compressed so much under the clamps that it was no longer sealing well, even with the clamps fully tigntened. Try twisting the hose- if it moves chances are it is not tight enough.

I've had fluid leaking through the return pipe before - the casing was totally nadgered and porous
