Seriously?? The marketing Geniuses in MBHQ must be The Logical Next Step from their utility van business.

This reminds me of that new credit card ad where the contractors talking to the young family about all the unnecessary work and cost overruns he expects basically saying he's going to rob them blind. The point of the ad being wouldn't it be nice if people actually said what they meant.

All I know is if I saw contractor pulling up in one of those I'd say no thanks. OK rant over.

A contractor would likely drive a 3/4 to 1-ton diesel with a long-box. This looks to me like the truck that a typical American will use to commute to work, never scratching the box. Will get some use as a toy hauler.

This is a lucrative market, where the US spends lots of money, I have three neighbors who commute in their "trucks", and they're all stickered over $75,000 with dual moonroofs, leather, power everything, and kept perfectly clean.

However, there are a lot of Merceded-badged Sprinters pulling up to businesses and houses every day and I doubt they're turned away.

Its just a rebadged Nissan Navara. The 2 companies have a deal: Nissan (Infiniti) got the QX30 (aka GLA) from Mercedes, and in return MB gets a pickup. Who wants to pay Mercedes money for a rebadged Nissan?

See, now that Is how the us made dodges and so forth should look instead of the brutal square front all of them want us to drive!

engatwork 10-25-2016 06:43 PM

The front end looks different to me t but you can tell it is the same truck.

I like what I see in the Ridgeline these days but for right now I'll $tick with my '97 Ford F150 for my full sized pick up needs and the '67 F100 for back up:).

chicken tax...

With MBUSA moving their headquarters to the south I guess they figured they needed a pickup truck. Seriously though there is a lot of money in that segment. I could pick up an nice used or sometimes e-class for what a lot of high end pickups go for.

A guy at my current employer is retiring a year later so he can pay a huge lump on his truck loan, which is 78,000 for a Ford 350 with all the bells and whistles.

He doesn't allow anyone to put anything in the trunk and he commutes about 150 miles / day in this thing.

Ever heard the expression: " More money than sense " ? But hey, it's his money.

Let me know if you ever want to sell it in any condition.

I'd buy one of those or a used BRDM

They should have used that as a starting point for styling instead of tweeking the Tacomas corners.
