1980 300td rear wiper relay?

Hello all,

I just lost my rear wipers on a 1980 300td wagon. I also seem to have lost the window cleaning fluid sprayer. I previously had both working. It has been raining alot in San francisco and they both went out at the same time. I checked the switch and it seems to work. Also there is 12 volts getting to the switch at the dash. Is there a relay to control the fluid motor or the wipers. If so anyone know where it is located. Google search and forum search didn't yield much.

Cheers,
Hans

Not certain for that particular year but 123 chassis cars have a relay mounted inside the rear hatch, in the same space as the wiper machinery. There are numerous wires that travel from the wiring junction near the rear hatch, so you will be able to/need to test there to verify voltages. The wiring from there runs down into the rear hatch body.

Just checked there is a "Rear Interval Wipe Control" located in the "lower RH side of the tailgate" the rear washer gets it's power through a switch that is part of the wiper machinery.
