Nice!
Yeah, I would think you'd have too much boost with the wastegate line disconnected. 14 psi is right around where the overboost protection would normally activate. And probably over 12 is going to be no gain anyway. I have mine set at 10. If you do want to adjust the boost pressure, this is about the best manual controller you can get. You can also make that exact one from hardware store parts, but I priced it out and it was about the same but you'd have to actually assemble it. I've had mine for years. -Rog |

Sounds like you have a fix. Here are pics on my SD of the last hose that was missing from your TD. It is really a hose and not a plastic line. One end attached in the pic on the left, it travels around and over to the connection in pic on the right.
Although your TD seems to be running great, as a purist I would probably replumb it like the MB engineers designed it; there must be some reason that they made it that way. Do not know the downside and it is of course just personal preference. Good luck with it. |

crap your right. ok I hooked up a line to the waist gate and I nipple that was blocked on the boost side of the turbo and it limited the boost to about 9 maybe 10 psi and it still runs way better than I ever seen but it did scrub off substantial power. from the 14 psi run I made.
think this is too much egt? do I need to get the controller and limit it to 12? will I hurt it running 14 or maybe just limit it a little with my foot until I get the controller ? for obvious reasons id love to just leave it at 14 with the line blocked off |

I have a non egr intake and exhaust manifold if that makes any difference. little less heat in there

The only way to know about the EGTs is to install a gauge, unfortunately. I feel much safer messing with the boost and ALDA with one, but with that said the only time I've see really high temps is on a really long, steep hill like Dallas Divide (if you've driven it you know that it's no picnic on the steep side). Side tip: if you want to hit 60 MPH on a bicycle, come down the steep side of Dallas Divide.

so ima leave it at 14 psi until I order the controller and a egt gauge. no hills here in Houston but I would like to dial it down to 12 and know my egt's.
thanks again guys you rule I love my car again!!!!!!! |
