Disconnecting Glow plug wiring harness
There has been some discussion lately about the NLA status of a replacement W124 pre glow wiring harness and I fear my harness on my '95 diesel has crumbled to the point where it doesn't work any more.
Am I correct in thinking that this harness has nothing to do with controlling the fuel system or ignition timing on the car and it is specific to the glow plug system? The most important question is if I leave it connected is it a fire hazard? Can it be disconnected from the power source with no worries? I drive this car by choice and in the winter I always plug the block heater in at home or at work.

The glow plugs really are needed to start the car in all but hot summer conditions. Good news is that harness doesn't have many wires in it, so it wouldn't be that hard to re-wire yourself.
