ATF sucked out by vacuum pump

Hi all. My 1984 300D's ATF is getting sucked out of its transmission by its vacuum pump. I am guessing the modulator valve definately needs replacing, but has the vacuum pump potentially damaged itself by siphoning off a couple of quarts or more of ATF? The engine's oil level has also increased by over a quart. Is this to be expected under these circumstances?

Any tidbits of wisdom will be acknowledged and appreciated. Thanks!

The only advice I can lend is if you can find out what type of rubber the Vacuum pump has as far as seals, diaphagm, etc you can find out if they are compatible with the ATF fluid. For instance Nitrile or NBR rubber is very compatible with ATF fluid, where EPDM or Ethylene Propylene would not. You could probably call Parker Hannifin to get that information. You might want to drop the oil, with the ATF in the oil it could thin out the oil to much and could cause engine problems.
